Student Success and Support provides Academic Tutoring, Accountability Hours, Student Success Coaching, and Student Success Workshops for Harvard Summer School students.

Academic Tutoring

Academic tutors are typically undergraduate and graduate students at Harvard University. They offer one-on-one tutoring and facilitate group tutoring sessions. Tutors assist in the learning process by reviewing subject matter, clarifying concepts, helping students prepare for exams, and sharing their expertise in their field of study.

Academic Tutoring is available for many HSS 4-week and 7-week courses. For writing assistance and tutoring in courses within the departments of Creative WritingEXPOSJournalismLiterature, and other writing-centric subject areas, contact the Harvard Writing Center at wricntr@fas.harvard.edu or visit their website.

  • We are unable to offer tutoring for profession-oriented courses such as those in the departments of Accounting, Digital Media and Design, Drama, Information Systems Management, Legal Studies, Management, Marketing and others.
  • We do not offer preparation services for any standardized test (i.e., SAT, ACT, MCAT, GRE, etc.), Advanced Placement (AP) courses, or International Baccalaureate (IB) courses.
  • Requests for higher level/specialized courses must come through the Tutor Request Form.
  • Tutees may not book direct appointments with tutors that are not currently listed on the Academic Tutoring website.
Accountability Hours

Accountability Hours begin Tuesday, July 2-Thursday, August 8. Students meet virtually with a Student Success Coach who facilitates the session. At the beginning of the session, students will introduce themselves and set a reasonable goal that they can work on over the next 45 minutes. Students can work with their camera on or off and self-assess as they move through the hour. Students do not have to work on the same project, in fact it can be fun to learn about the assignments in the other courses. A few minutes before the end of the hour, the coach will bring everyone back and check in to see how their work went. Students are invited to share what their next steps are to complete their assignment or project. Advanced sign-up is required, and space is limited to 10 students.

Student Success Coaching

Student Success Coaching program works with students to help them achieve their academic and personal goals. Through personalized guidance, students refine study skills and executive functioning strategies, enhancing time management, organization, and prioritization abilities crucial for academic success. By fostering a holistic approach, coaching empowers students to excel academically while maintaining balance in other aspects of their lives.

By attending our workshops, students gain practical skills such as scheduling, email management, college communication, active learning strategies, and note-taking.
