Skill-Building Opportunities: A Framework for Your Future
The Office of Student Affairs strives to provide engaging, interactive, and innovative live virtual programming for our diverse DCE student community.
We know that intentionally practical and skills-based events allow students to immediately apply useful tools to support the work they do inside and outside of the classroom.
This framework focuses on integrating practical, skills-based events to support our students’ holistic development. See below for more details.
Our Five Pillars
OSA-sponsored events and activities are designed around one or more of the five pillars below. These pillars enable students to connect with each other and build their networks while developing skills, strategies, and tools related to one or more of the following:
Making Excellence Inclusive
Building a community that draws on the widest possible pool of talent to unify excellence and diversity. One that fully embraces individuals from varied backgrounds, cultures, races, identities, life experiences, perspectives, beliefs, and values.
Cultivating Leadership Capacity, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Providing opportunities for adult learners that encourage personal and professional initiative and creativity.
Building Community & Promoting Health & Well-Being
Supporting students holistically through ongoing efforts to foster connection and identifying local, national & international wellness resources.
Practicing Civic Engagement & Social Responsibility
Creating spaces for respectful discourse and critical thinking, while advancing one’s impact towards a more just world.
Deepening Intellectual Inquiry & Academic Excellence
Challenging adult learners to move through their studies with curiosity and distinction.
These pillars are designed to ensure you succeed academically, personally, and professionally and feel prepared to engage in an ever-changing world. We invite you to expand your skills in these areas by exploring upcoming events and opportunities.
